Dev Update #1: Into the Dungeon
6 October 2026Welcome to the first devlog for Grimstair, a dungeon crawler you can play solo or with up to 4 players in online co-op. Here's where things stand.
What's in so far
- Procedural dungeons: every floor is generated fresh, with rooms, looping corridors, secret doors, traps and the occasional maze.
- Explore, then fight: you roam freely until a monster spots you, then it's turn-based combat, ordered by initiative.
- Four classes: Warrior, Ranger, Rogue and Mage, with character creation and a full appearance editor.
- Loot: five rarities from Common to Legendary. Gear you find is unidentified and might be cursed.
- Potions and scrolls: their colours and labels are shuffled every game, so you'll need to drink or read to find out what they do.
- The camp: a safe starting floor with a trader, so you can spend your 50 gold on gear before heading down.
- Save and load, including an autosave every time you take the stairs.
What's next
Online multiplayer is the big one, so up to four players can create characters and head down together. After that: more monsters, shops and bosses.
